A Wisconsin man who was granted a permit for his ice-cream truck despite a marijuana conviction has been charged with trying to sell crack cocaine
Twenty-three-year-old Lavelle Johnson of Green Bay was charged Friday with delivering between 1 and 5 grams of crack cocaine.
The charge carries a maximum penalty of 12 1/2 years in prison and a $25,000 fine.
Johnson was arrested Thursday, two days after the Green Bay City Council granted him the seller's permit.
The panel took into account Johnson's 2004 marijuana conviction but may not have known about the alleged cocaine sale back in March.
