FACT: There are 17 women and 72 men (soon to be another temp) in the Senate- Women are 52% of the voters-What's wrong with these statistics?
For the first time in Massachusetts history we can elect a woman- and not just any woman - Please read Ani's piece below and check our grassroots website: http://www.womenforcoakley.com/ or for a great bio http://emilyslist.org:80/profiles/coakley/ to learn more about Martha Coakley. You will be impressed. Emily's list says about this race "In the 24 years since we founded EMILY's List, I can't think of a single race where the need was so urgent and the opportunity so great. We have a chance to make history once more, but we can't afford to wait. " (of course for me Hillary was certainly the big one-unfortunately that is over and we have a second chance!)
Another great piece to read and pass around (we're trying to get it on the front page of Huffington- the more visits the better the shot of national press)-is Breaking the Gender-Merit Link by Professor Nancy Hopkins from MIT- http://www.huffingtonpost.com/nancy-hopkins/breaking-the-gender-merit_b_295311.html -Please comment, digg it and pass the link around!
This is a short race- the primary is December 8th and that's the real race (this is MA -the Republican running has a nude centerfold picture in Cosmo!) The 3 men in the race have tons of money- one his own personal fortune ($400 million for one) and the others have major NYC funders- but Martha has all of us- Please read Ani's piece and if you too are moved and excited about the possibility
pass this around to your networks- encourage financial support-even small ones- If Hillary's army mobilizes we can win one for her!
I know the energy is out there-I traveled the country for HIllary and met incredible people-we just need to harness it for other woman- we can never let what happened to Hillary happen again-
If Martha wins -it is a win for all of us!
Thanks for your consideration and I hope you will consider joining the team-
Is she a Democrat or Republican? As much as I would like to see more women in the senate, for the first time in my life, it turns my stomach to help the Democrats win senate seats. Unless we balance out the Senate and house, we are doomed as a nation.
I feel extremely let down by those moderate/Blue Dog Dems I supported in the past.

Coakley supported Hillary until the bitter end. She did not fall in line like Kennedy or Deval Patrick told her to. She is a very independent individual.
