NOW Pres: It's 'Not Acceptable' for Pres. Obama to Achieve Heath Care Reform...(ABCNews 11/10/09)

http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2009/11/now-president-its-not-acceptable-for-president-obama-to-achieve-health-care-reform-by-pushing-women-.html

Terry O’Neill, the president of the National Organization of Women, was not happy to hear President Obama’s response when ABC News asked him about an amendment added to the House Democrats’ health care bill Saturday night that further restricts abortion services in both public and private insurance plans.

“He has passed health care for half the population and an anti-abortion bill for the rest of us,” O’Neill said.

She said she understood the president’s frustration in wanting to pass health care reform, but “it is not acceptable for him to achieve that goal by pushing women back into the back alleys to die.” And the anti-abortion amendment added to the health care reform legislation “does just that.”

Other organizations that support abortion rights agree.

OK PUMAs, here's the part where we all say "I told you so!" I want to hear y'all loud and clear. One, two, three, everybody shout it out...
I TOLD YOU SO!!!

During the Democratic primaries, the campaign of then-Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-NY, suggested that Obama would not fight for abortion rights as would Clinton. O’Neill sees this current action in that light.

“There’s no question that Hillary Clinton would have fought for our rights,” she says. “There’s no question that she would have understood the devastating implications of the Stupak-Pitts amendment. She would not have countenanced the Democratic leadership” of the House insisting that the amendment was allowed to be voted upon, which O’Neill says was a decision that essentially assured its inclusion in the bill.

Wonder how long the list is, of things Hillary said during the campaign about o-creepycriminal, that have come true?confuse

Maybe we ought to start keeping track of Hillary predictions that came true? Seriously, if she challenges him in 2012 we're gonna need this stuff.

Yes, it was clear that he would not and has not fight for the rights of women as would have Hillary - including reproductive rights.

It was clear that he would not and has not fought for GLBT rights as would have Hillary. I mean Elton Freakin' John did a fund raiser for her - and Elton knows from GLBT rights.

It was clear that Obama, unlike Hillary, did not give two hoots in Hell about America's values and traditions. Nor was he all that torn up about 9-11, which, as we all know, Hillary was devastated by.

He has gone all over the world apologizing for our country, where Hillary has inspired people throughout the world, extolling them to find their strengths, gain independence, supporting them in these efforts. She has pride in her country. Obama has pride in his looks.

Yes, Jen, Hell yes. We Pumas need to have "I TOLD YOU SO" tatooed on our foreheads.

BTW - Thank Heaven NOW has a new Pres. Kim Gandy would have never said anything negative about BO. When they came out with the list of people who had been to the WH, I think she had been there about 13 times, more than Oprah, Rev Wright, George Clooney, everybody.

Good idea!  Maybe it can be a sticky - I wouldn't mind seeing that at the top of the page every day!!  We could also include stuff Barry did that would make people think twice about voting for him.  I predict it would be a most popular thread!wink

I like that ideal too.........we had so much information gathered before the old site was hacked.

I had listed those phone numbers, including Now, that I called last week. I asked them how does it feel to be stabbed in the back? I was pretty harsh, blaming them for being part
of the problems we face right now. Some referred me to mail box, some referred me
to communications person, and some send me email showing me what actions they are
taking, that being Nancy Keenan of Planned Parenthood.

This morning I read article by Marcia A. Hamilton regarding the laws:

I am concerned, a female who blogs about Stupak, has had her life threatened.
All the nuts come out, and so be careful online.
