The idea of 0 not running in 2012 sounds too good to be true at this point, but who knows?

In an interview with CNN in China, President Obama opened the possibility to not running for re-election in 2012 -- something that no president has done since Lyndon Johnson.

Here's what he said:

"You know, if - if I feel like I've made the very best decisions for the American people and three years from now I look at it and, you know, my poll numbers are in the tank and because we've gone through these wrenching changes, you know, politically, I'm in a tough spot, I'll - I'll feel all right about myself," Obama told CNN's Ed Henry.

"I said to myself very early on, even when I started running for office, I don't want to be making decisions based on getting re-elected, because I think the challenges that America faces right now are so significant," the president also said.

"Obviously, if I make those decisions and I think that I'm moving the country on the right direction economically, in terms of our security interests, our foreign policy, I'd like to think that those policies are continued because they're not going to bear fruit just in four years."

But in the next breath the president quickly sounded like someone who would relish taking his case to the American people in 2012, saying he's tackling big issues like health care and Iran that he's confident will bear fruit in the future.

We can only pray he bows out of the 2012 race. Sometimes I wonder if he will actually be able to settle his ADHD down enough to stay in office this first term. He has what he wanted - to be POTUS - and I think that's about the length of his attention span.

Let's pray he decides he's screwed the country up enough in 2012 and spares us another 4 years of looking at his mug and listening to his "Uhh....Uhh...Uhh's."

Obama as POTUS reminds me of a little kid who wants a pony. But then once he gets it and he's expected to take care of the animal and shovel horse sht every single day, the pony isn't so much fun anymore.

Well, it does seem odd since early on he was talking like he would be president forever. There was even talk of abolishing term limits. I think O truly loves the glamor of the office, and he likes the idea of being POTUS. The work - not so much.

That's kind of sad.  If Obama doesn't care about running again he doesnt care about what he pushes through.  Truly he doesnt care about what's best for the country he just wanted to be in the history books.

THe bozo is destroying the country every freaking chance he gets, and there is still 3 more years of hell with this america-loathing bozo in charge

they wanna cram down death care down our throats

I agree 100 percent.

 

I still believe that this is not him, but somebody behind him pulling the strings. I cannot figure out who. He just seems to me to be all ego, and no clue of actual work.  I think whoever *they* are chose him because of this, he is all ego and nothing else there so is easy to minipulate.

 

To me, all he cared about was getting the title. this story seems to be him covering his ass. If things go bad, he will pull some excuse not to run (and have to endure losing), and if things go well, he takes the credit, runs again, and has another trophy to stroke his ego.

Look, I know this bugger Barry is still screwing up horribly, and I'm working to fix that, in whatever way I can.  But we can't let him ruin our lives any more than we have to.  We must celebrate our victories, and having o-vomit not run in 2012 is a HUGE victory, if it happens!  So a toast to fighting the good fight in 2012, and hopefully getting someone in there that actually LOVES this great country!smile
