Rumours are growing that US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will visit Australia in the next fortnight.
One of the nation's leading foreign policy thinkers has tipped Ms Clinton to be here soon.
"From the grapevine: Hillary Clinton will almost certainly be visiting Australia in the next fortnight," Michael Fullilove told his Twitter followers on Tuesday.
Dr Fullilove is director of the global issues program at the Lowy Institute for International Policy.
A one-time presidential candidate, Ms Clinton has not visited Australia since she was appointed secretary of state by US President Barack Obama a year ago.
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the US Embassy in Canberra declined to comment.
I'd heard before the holidays that Hillary was scheduled to visit Australia and New Zealand, but I didn't hear when. It sounds like they expect her to be there soon!
