Virginia Democrats plan to fight nomination of Robert Sledd

Democrats in the Virginia General Assembly are readying opposition to the confirmation of Gov.-elect Bob McDonnell's choice for secretary of commerce and trade if the appointee does not step down from three corporate boards, according to The Washington Post. (Emphasis added)

Five Democrats and two Republicans who serve on the committee that will vote first on Robert Sledd's confirmation said they have concerns that his service on the boards could create conflicts of interest.
