In this Dec. 20, 1996 file photo, then-President Bill Clinton holds Socks the cat as he and first lady Hillary Rodham Clinton hosted Washington area elementary school children at the White House. Socks, the White House cat during the Clinton administration, has died. He was about 18. Socks had lived with Bill Clinton's secretary, Betty Currie, in Hollywood, Md. , since the Clintons left the White House in early 2001.

I have read the Socks and Buddy book. My nieces and I found it one day during the summer of 08 when I took them to the library. My older niece checked it out on her card, we took it back to their house, and we read through it together, since my younger niece was only five at the time.
