" Clinton: Hillary Will Be ‘Happiest Person in America’ if Health Care Passes
By Jennifer Bendery, Roll Call Staff, March 16, 2010, 4:30 p.m.
Former President Bill Clinton may have visited with Senate Democrats on Tuesday to discuss climate change, but he left the meeting talking effusively about the need to pass health care reform.
Moments after leaving the Democrats’ weekly luncheon, where he was invited by Sen. John Kerry (Mass.) to talk about climate change legislation, Clinton emphasized the need to move health care reform past the finish line in the coming days. He said nobody will be celebrating the bill’s passage more than the Clintons — not President Barack Obama, not White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel — in part because his wife, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, unsuccessfully took on the issue on during his presidency.
“Maybe Hillary will be the happiest person in America. I’ll be the second happiest person. Even more than President Obama, even more than Rahm, even more than all the people that have been laboring over this forever. I just want it to pass and I think it will,” Clinton told reporters.
Clinton said the final bill “doesn’t have to be perfect” since lawmakers will have to keep working on the issue for years to come. He also cited a January study by Harvard and University of Southern California economists that found “any version of these bills we’re batting around” will lead to as many as 400,000 jobs per year. Well, with that endorsement, this thing just might pass.

Sure, Hillary will be happy because the passage of this unpopular bill signals the end of Obama's political career and opens the door even wider for her to run in 2012. She can fix the new health care reform laws when she becomes prez-- it would be much easier than starting the whole debate over again from scratch. Note Bill's comments about lawmakers working on the bill for years to come.
Still, that's not enough to make me support this mess. I am under-insured right now. I have catastrophic coverage, and that's it. I cannot afford the higher premiums that will come with Obama's mandates. I can't even afford what I'm paying now.
That's what I was thinking . . . Bill Clinton is playing mind games over this, maybe even Rahm is. It's probably already a given that Obama is a one-termer, so either way, he's toast. I think if this Obamacare fails (as it probably will) to pass, it'll be better for the Democrat Party overall. I'm at the point that I want Hillary to challenge Zero for the Dem party nomination in 2012, and win - she needs to have a party left in order to do that.

this quote from Bill Clinton's interview (see obesity video thread) i nhear Bill saying if he would have explained healthcare to the people and felt their pain instead of giving pretty sdppeches for 12 months maybe more advances could have been made last year
Bill Clinton"In the environment where the people are scared, frustrated and confused I believe it is important to give relentless explanation for your policies, explain them. We Know the President can give a pretty speech, but, and I am glad he finally did this in the State of the Union Address, when he went from conventional eloquence to explanation. If you give me a pretty speech and I am scared to death I would think he is trying to pull the wool over my eyes. But if you explain things to me, why, and let me know you know I am hurting even if I don't agree with the policies it goes a long way…"
I say a year was wasted because HRC would have done this on day 1
Well, if that quote is from that video, it is not quite what Bill Clinton said, was it!
Yes, Hillary Clinton would have tackled the economy issues and healthcare right off the gate and done it the correct way.
Did you see Brett Beir's interview of Pres.Obama? That was quite possibly the WORST interview any president gave anyone ever! LOL I really have to wonder how he energizes people in a positive way.. He is so not inspirational!

what do you mean? i put quotes around Bill's mine was about HRC unquotedf
Oh, yes, not questioning that Amy.. Sorry for the confusion that clearly my words caused! (Explanation: This is a language translation issue called "referential opacity" where the word "it" gets scrambled. It is clearer with tone but in written text the reference gets lost)
I meant the following: If that the ARTICLE is talking about (quoted) the statement that Pres.Clinton that you quoted, then it is not an accurate representation in that article of what Pres.Clinton said in the video you posted that I have also seen yesterday.
Thanks for the opportunity to clarify. :)
One of the places in the video that stood out for me is where the President said that he supports the administration, especially the Secretary of State! LOL. Ebinger, I think you are correct! They are party people, and they need the party to hang with them.

If this bill passes, I will be so upset and scared and disappointed in my Congressmen and Senators. I have written and petitioned them religiously for months to oppose this bill, so I am watching closely to see how Boucher votes. He is up for reelection in Nov. We need to get all of those voting for this bill on a list by state so we can vote the traitors out of office. Latest poll says only 35% of the population supports it, and yet we have Congress voting against the wishes of 65% of the population? Time to make them pay.
