Secretary of State Hillary Clinton saluted State Department daddies on Friday with a “Happy Father’s Day” message.
In an e-mail sent out to employees, Clinton sympathized with parents who are working hard to balance work and family, giving a shout out to her husband, former President Bill Clinton.
“You give everything you have to your country — and you give even more to your family,” Clinton wrote to her employees. “I happen to know one Father-of-the-Bride who’s managed to lose almost 15 pounds to look good for his daughter on her big day. ”
The Clintons’ daughter, Chelsea, is expected to marry her longtime boyfriend, banker Marc Mezvinsky, this summer. Bill Clinton told reporters Chelsea asked him to lose the weight before her wedding.
Echoing a promise she made to employees on Mother’s Day, the secretary reiterated her commitment to implement polices at the State Department to allow parents of newborns and newly-adopted children to take paid leave. Currently the federal government doesn’t provide paid maternity leave.
How nice of Hillary to remember to recognize fathers, including, Chelsea's. Proud of Big Dawg for losing the 15.
