President Obama publicly attended church Sunday morning for the first time in nearly six months, and shortly after a major survey showed that only a third of Americans can correctly identify Obama's faith as Christian.
Snip:
The visit, Obama's first public trip to church since Easter, comes several weeks after a major survey showed that a substantial and growing number of Americans believe that Obama, a self-described Christian, is Muslim.
Snip:
The number of Americans who expressed uncertainly about the president's religion, meanwhile, is much larger and has also grown, including among Obama's political base. For instance, fewer than half of Democrats and African-Americans now say that Obama is Christian.
I post this not for the religious portion as much for the number regarding his base. I think this is such blatant pandering that it will hurt more than help him.
And that African-American number I find somewhat staggering.
For the record, I am Irish-Catholic by heritage rather than religion and I find the lot of "organized" religion to be incredibly disorganized. I have my faith in God and don't need it "qualified" by any organized religion.

I guess I am not the only one that thinks this was a pandering gesture by Obama. A comment at CNN:
RUReal: And the Lord sayeth elections are nigh. "Go thee forth that they might know that you are my faithful follower." And thusly did the Chosen One go forth into the house of the Lord on a quarterly basis.September 19, 2010 at 7:05 pm | Report abuse
That commenter from CNN cracked me up. Jen, I know what you're saying about the atheists in foxholes. What we have in the case of the Dems is A**holes in foxholes. lol (sorry for the lameness - couldn't resist).
