Grassroots anti-Health Care Reform letter to email

I received this email today and thought others here might like to email it around as well.

Subject:  Senior Health

In England anyone over 59 cannot receive heart repairs or stents or bypass because it is not covered, being too expensive and not needed.

Obama wants to have a healthcare system just like Canada 's and England 's.

I got this today and am sending it on..  If Obama's plans in other areas don't scare you, this should.  Please do not let Obama sign senior death warrants.  Everybody that is on this mailing list is either a senior citizen, is getting close or knows somebody that is.

Most of you know by now that the Senate version (at least) of the "stimulus" Bill includes provisions for extensive rationing of health care for senior citizens.  The author of this part of the bill, former senator and tax evader, Tom Daschle was credited today by Bloomberg with the following statement:

Bloomberg: Daschle says "health-care reform will not be pain free. Seniors should be more accepting of the conditions that come with age instead of treating them."

If this does not sufficiently raise your ire, just remember that our esteemed Senators and Congressmen have their own healthcare plan that is first dollar or very low co-pay which they are guaranteed the remainder of their lives and are  not subject to this new law if it passes.

Please use the power of the Internet to get this message out.  Talk it up at the grassroots level.  We have an election coming up in one year and nine months. And we have the ability to address and reverse the dangerous direction the Obama administration and its allies have begun and in the interim, we can make their lives miserable.  Let's do this!

If you disagree, do nothing.

This is frightening. And many of our reps and sens are no spring chickens, themselves. i guess Nancy P, who would certainly not be eligible for extensive medical treatment, if age is the criteria, is counting on getting to keep that good insurance that our legislators enjoy. Poor old Robert Byrd would be in real trouble with O's health care plan.

I would like them to adopt Hillary's 2008 proposal rather than the watered down version of Hillary's 1993 proposal that is now on the table.

I really think we must keep up our push to let our legislators to take their time, slow down and be more rational - not to let be bullied.  Here's a sample letter I sent to my CA Senators:

Feel free to use it as template.  I also included the website of the senate where you can locate the name of your senators.  Distribute to your family, friends and colleagues to encourage them to express their views.

"Dear Senator Boxer:
Thank you for your dedicated service to our country.  As one of your constituents, I am respectfully requesting that you represent me in evaluating the overall impact of the health care plan being promoted by the Obama administration.  Factors such as cost, retention of health benefits for seniors like me, impact on people who are suffering from debilitating illnesses and other issues that could impact everyday Americans deserve to be evaluated.  And how about the dedicated health care professionals who are giving their best in service to their patients?
I believe that  honesty and integrity of purpose are owed to the American people as you evaluate the reform of the health care system.  I am utterly dismayed by the amount of advertising on behalf of this health care policy and the desire to push it at a very fast rate.  Just yesterday, I heard a TV commercial promoting President Obama's health care policy. I am not going to make a judgment on whether taxpayers' monies are being used for this commercial.  What I ask is for you to weigh the need for a bi-partisan support, not for the party.  Whatever happens, your vote in my behalf and in behalf of millions of your constituents will play a major role in our lives for generations.
Best wishes to you.  God bless you and God bless America.
Respectfully yours,

Except that they have enough money since they are millionaires to pay for what the gov't wouldn't dole out to them at their ages - that's why they don't care.  They aren't in the position that the people whom their legislation will impact are.

I say the members of Congress should be required to spend some time on Medicaid and then maybe they wouldn't be so quick to play with people's lives.

Obama wants to have a healthcare system just like Canada 's and England 's.

Actually, no he doesn't at all. And England and Canada's systems are very different from each other in a few ways. If he did want single payer I'd be all for it since it's the ONLY thing that will work, is cheaper and covers everyone. What he wants will ensure that we will never have single payer because everyone is so confused about this topic already and will think what his plan IS, IS single payer when it is not. It is a insurance company run pandering, mess that won't work at all. His plan is very expensive and leaves out huge chuncks of people and WILL harm the elderly.

I cannot believe the amount of misinformed baloney about Canada's healthcare system that I am seeing coming out right now. It's to the point that Canada even wrote a letter to correct the outright lies. Englands system is much different than Canadas and has different issues....Canada's system works for the most part and ninety nine percent of Canadians wouldn't trade it for Americas system at ALL.

Oh, and those so called "stories" of Canadians rushing the border for care in the U.S. ...most every single one of those people are being PAID for by the Canadian system to go to the U.S. if there is a wait list and they want to get care elsewhere, that's right the Canadian system will pay for it...and no the wait lists are not that long at all..no worse than most places in the U.S. lord. Also, American's go to Canada for care too when they cannot afford healthcare in the U.S. but, you won't hear those stories...but, I do hear them because I live outside the country right now. There are fear mongering stories on both sides of the border that are really laughable in their propaganda. The U.S. system is very expensive but, it's very, very good in a lot of ways but, you'd never know that watching Canadian media.

On the other hand, in the U.S. preposterous lies are told about all the universal health care systems around the world and they are all compared to one another when most of them work differently. France does not have the same system as Canada or Germany or England..How can people make truly informed decisions if they do not know how the differing systems even work?? I don't get it!

If the scare tactic is that President Obama wants a healthcare system like Canada's I say bring it on but, he doesn't. And he Canadian government is now so offended at the lies being spread about their system that the ARE responding to it with the truth. And they are not happy that our government is allowing this debacle to become part of this debait in the U.S.

Obama's health care plan is a mess and a half and I do not support it. Single payer or nothing.

Also, the government does NOT make health care decisions in Canada. YOUR doctor does and YOU and that's ALL. It's a private system that is publically funded. Again, it's a private system that is publically funded. lord have mercy! Care is very much like in the United States but, it's just funded differently, that's all. No one tells you what doctor to go to, what hospital or anything else..HMO's in the U.S. however DO make such decisions.

Obama is messing up any chance we will ever have to get a healthcare system that everyone can afford. Can he get to be any more of a disaster?
