It's not the # of post, but the substance of the contributions that should matter, IMHO. Not to appear critical, because I am not, but a member can reply with the post "Stamp" to e.g., 50 or more posts a day and build up his or her post count, but "Stamp" really does not contribute a great deal to the discussion other than to convey the "stamper's" approval of something said.
In essence, I really do not pay much attention to the post meters, but rather learn over time the moniker of members who post something that is informative or promotes good discussion and always am happy to see when they have posted something new so I can read it and engage or think about the discussion.
IMHO, We are just a blogging community with some shared interest towards which we share news articles and perspectives with each other.. to hear other people thinking and share our thoughts and get some good dialog from people we respect and know share our interests.
In particular, please do not use labels that may impute meanings that are different from their ordinary daily use. Words (such as volunteer...) imply organizational roles...
From simplicity viewpoint, I liked your first suggestion: copper, silver, gold, diamond, and Platinum. Thanks.

I agree with that line of thinking also.
Keep it simple and generic. Otherwise, readers, especially those who have not been following our forum(s) and are visiting/lurking, may get the wrong impression. And, like Xyndau, I don't really pay that much attention to the rankings either. They are sometimes interesting to glance at once in awhile. For me, it is about the content and how much the post contributed to the discussion, not about a "posting competitition".
