Zogby Poll: President Obama's Job Approval Falls to 48% - 7-25-09
http://www.zogby.com/news/ReadNews.cfm?ID=1726
Survey finds 51% believe U.S. on wrong track, while 41% say the nation is headed in right direction

UTICA, New York—A new Zogby Interactive survey shows a slight decline in President Barack Obama’s job approval, with 48% of likely voters now approving of the job he is doing as president, down from 51% who said the same in an interactive/telephone hybrid poll conducted in mid-June. Forty-nine percent now say they disapprove of the job the president has done so far in office and 4% are not sure.

The survey found similar results when likely voters were asked specifically to rate President Obama’s performance—47% give him a positive rating, with 22% rating his job performance as “excellent” and 25% rating it as “good.” But slightly more than half (53%) give the president a negative job performance rating, with 10% who say he is doing a “fair” job as president and 43% who say he is doing a “poor” job—up from 36% who said he was doing a poor job in mid-June. (Zogby uses a four-point scale of excellent, good, fair and poor, and aggregates excellent and good to determine positive ratings.)

The Zogby Interactive survey of 4,470 likely voters nationwide was conducted July 21-24, 2009 and carries a margin of error of +/- 1.5 percentage points.

"First of all, the two scales are identical showing President Obama with about as many approving as disapproving,” said John Zogby, President and CEO of Zogby International. “What is troubling for the President is not only his slide with voters but that they are re-polarized. He is strong with Democrats but only has 6% approval from Republicans and 40% from Independents. Support from young voters is high (59%) but he is down several points from the margin they gave him in November 2008. His support wanes as voters get older.”

As President Obama pushes for healthcare reform, this latest survey shows Americans are growing increasingly dissatisfied with the direction the country is headed—just 41% believe the nation is headed in the right direction, while 51% believe the U.S. is on the wrong track. A Zogby Interactive poll from late May/early June showed 49% thought the nation was on the wrong track, up from 45% who said the same in April. There is a sharp political divide, with Republicans (93%) and conservatives (95%) who overwhelmingly view the country as headed on the wrong track, in sharp contrast to Democrats (78%) and liberal voters (88%), who take a positive view of the country’s direction. Slightly more than half of political independents (56%) view the country has headed in the wrong direction, while 31% say the U.S. is on the right track.

Now that is a bit of great news. The more his approval ratings go down the more our elected Senators and Congressmen/women will LISTEN to US (the people who gave them their jobs).

Good! Maybe the thuggs in DC will finally take notice? If they're down enough by the time healthcare and cap&tax hit the floors, perhaps this BS will stop.

Here's one from Politico:

Gravity through polls for President Obama

By BEN SMITH | 7/30/09 9:24 PM EDT

A slew of recent polls showing President Barack Obama’s job approval ratings at essentially normal levels and a partisan divide reasserting itself suggest that the political landscape was not as dramatically transformed last November as Democrats had hoped.
The question now is whether those numbers will impede the president’s ability to achieve the transformative goals he set out for himself, particularly in the area of health care, where members of Congress crucial to his success may feel they have to respond to shifting public opinion.
After months of showing sky-high job approval ratings, polls from major newspapers and from the Pew and Gallup organizations this week gave Obama the lowest numbers of his presidency. He is less popular than either George W. Bush or George H.W. Bush at this point in their presidencies, though more popular than Bill Clinton was after seven months in office.
Obama’s level of support now neatly matches the number of voters who elected him — with 52 percent of Americans approving of his job performance, while 42 percent disapprove, according to an average of major surveys. At the same time, Republicans are acting like Republicans again — nearly 80 percent of them disapprove of Obama’s performance — and disapproval among independent voters is growing steadily. …

The totus will be spinning once the polls come running in his backyard.  He and Bo dog will be chasing them way with his teleprompts!

Rasmussen Poll: Obama Approval at 50%, Registered Democrats Down 2% (8/2/09)

Interesting numbers here:

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Sunday shows that 31% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Thirty-seven percent (37%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -6 (see trends).

Still, during the month of July, the number of Americans who consider themselves Democrats fell by two percentage points. At 36.8%, there are now fewer Democrats than at any point since December 2007. However, the number of Republicans has held fairly steady over the past year.

The Presidential Approval Index is calculated by subtracting the number who Strongly Disapprove from the number who Strongly Approve. It is updated daily at 9:30 a.m. Eastern (sign up for free daily e-mail update). Updates also available on Twitter.

Overall, 50% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President's performance. Forty-nine percent (49%) now disapprove.

Because they are figuring out he is not a democrat. He's an Obamacrat who is only out for himself. I have a lot of resentment towards those who did not research who Obama was, and who believed he was going to "transform" America for the better over common sense! Common sense tells you that when your performance in your own district is that abysmal you are not going to be able to "change" things on a national level. The person who knows the ropes and has been through the fire however, might have been able to do most of it but, they didn't want her.

Now the rest of us suffer. We won't get healthcare, we won't get out of debt, we won't get any of the things that democrats waited for all those years...and anyone who actually thought mr. rainbow brite unicorn, all talk no action b.s.'er was going to give it to us was full of delusions instead of hard facts.

Now they begin to waken from the stupor and the withdrawal is going to be hell for them. Unfortunately, since the dems decided to cheat this fraud of a democrat into office the rest of us will have to suffer for what you did. Blind faith in this sham of a democrat will cost us dearly. Thanks for nothing "progressives"

They wanted to live in la la land. They do not understand that to get where you want to go, you HAVE to have someone in there who knows ALL the ropes and knows how to handle those they are up against in Washington and not JUST on a campaign trail. Now they wonder how they could have been fooled again. You fooled yourselves fools. You wanted the hopium so bad you didn't really do your homework.

In other words, it's your own damned fault. Grow up. Change is grown up business and facts matter. So does EXPERIENCE. Change comes by a lot more than chanting slogans. Good people are more than words and charm...

You wanted to change the world, and you did, for the worse..irresponsible and dangerous.

You blamed those who voted for Bush...okay..yep...some of that was deserved. So put on your big kid undies and take your own medicine now....you are responsible. At least have the common decency to apologize and try to help us fix the mess that is Obama.

Alice Paul, that was phenominal! I hope one day obamabots will have a big group slap.

I want to know what this means: "Overall, 50% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President's performance."

Does this mean they somewhat like his stage performance in front of a podium? The way he dresses? Talks?

PERFOMANCE covers a lot of territory.

Obama's Approval Rating Falls to 47% (Rasmussen 8/13/09) Lowest Ever!

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Thursday shows that 29% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Thirty-seven percent (37%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -8 (see trends).

Pennsylvania Senator Arlen Specter is feeling the heat of the health care debate. He now trails Republican Pat Toomey by double digits in an early look at the potential 2010 race. Two months ago, Specter led by double digits. Most Pennsylvania voters oppose the Congressional health care reform effort. Also, Specter’s lead is shrinking in his Democratic Primary match-up with Congressman Joe Sestak.

The Presidential Approval Index is calculated by subtracting the number who Strongly Disapprove from the number who Strongly Approve. It is updated daily at 9:30 a.m. Eastern (sign up for free daily e-mail update). Updates also available on Twitter.

Overall, 47% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President's performance. That’s the lowest level of total approval yet recorded. The President’s ratings first fell below 50% just a few weeks ago on July 25. Fifty-two percent (52%) now disapprove.
