Anatomy of an Outburst: Why Did Hillary Clinton Get Angry in Africa?
Sharp Response Raises Questions About Feelings, Relationship With Bill Clinton
Seemingly insulted, Hillary Clinton bristled Monday when a Congolese student, speaking through a translator, asked her to state her husband's opinion -- rather than her own -- on a trade deal between China and Congo.
The outburst made headlines mostly because it was such a rare moment for Hillary Clinton, known for a steely control of her temper.
While most of us can't relate to being one half of America's most powerful political couple, or to even having an opinion on Chinese trade contracts in Congo -- let alone a husband with opinions on them, too -- we can certainly relate to feeling upstaged or put down.
There Clinton was in Kinshasa, sweltering away in nearly 100-degree heat, recovering from a broken elbow, expounding on just the sorts of things Americans don't want to read about when they drink their morning coffee and pick up the paper: wartime rape, illegal mining, the World Bank.
On this, her longest overseas trip as secretary of state, she looked and sounded very much like America's senior diplomat. Until, that is, she was asked to convey her husband's opinion on the trade agreement.
Adding insult to injury was Bill Clinton. Fresh off retrieving two American journalists from the indignities of the North Korean gulag, and still basking in the headlines and accolades that followed, the former president was in Las Vegas Monday living it up in the conditioned air of one of the city's most expensive steak restaurants as he celebrated his 63rd birthday (several days early).
One cannot help but understand why Hillary Clinton got angry. But nor can one be expected to ignore a senior diplomat whose statements were anything but diplomatic.
"Now she's secretary of state and the world still wants to know what HE thinks about the World Bank. She's the nation's chief diplomat, and HE's the one who gets to save damsels from North Korea's Mr. Evil," wrote conservative columnist Kathleen Parker in an e-mail.
"As secretary of state, obviously, she needs to keep her cool. But as wife of Bill, who can blame her? That little eruption has been a long time coming. The only surprise is that the student who posed the question didn't suffer any burns.
This article is at least fair. Its long and this is only part of the article.
There goes Kathleen Parker again trying to "analyze" - I discount just about everything she says after her hatchet job on Sarah Palin and her constant gushing over Obama.
Why does she think that NKorea trip was anything to be jealous over? Kim Jong-il made Bill Clinton grovel - Clinton just did for as a favor for Gore, who the Norks rejected for that photo-op - they wanted somebody very high-profile instead, and nobody fits that description better than Bill Clinton.
They're making too big a deal out of a couple of remarks. She just recovered from a broken elbow, she travels all over the world, her boss makes a total ass of himself at least twice a day, and she's had to put up for years with people telling her what her own marriage is all about. She should be POTUS and most people know it, This "outburst" impacts nothing, except in the minds of the MSM. But I guess it's better to cover this than talk about Obama conceding that private trumps public.

So what did she say that was so horrible? And how idiotic of Parker to say that Bill relaxing after his trip (air-conditioned room, steak dinner) was somehow insulting to Hillary.
Kathleen Parker is a hack!

"Anatomy of an outburst"? Why is this even being discussed in this amount of detail? It really says something about our society that this gets more airtime than any of the other atrocities HC has discussed during her trip to Africa. How truly sad.

yes forget all about women being raped that isn't important. These people in the media doesn't give a damn about women. Women are going to have to stop supporting their media UNTIL they stop all sexism. No more sexist ads. I love football and I am not a man and I am totally sick of seeing the sexist ads. Males are not the only ones to watch sports.
Hill deserves to get angry - just like everyone. She looked exhausted - God knows what she is going through as a member of that OTeam - and, yes, her arm - it takes time to recover from that - I know it happened to me, and while I kept going you are on medication as anything to do with bones is painful if you aren't on the meds.
I think the media said it badly - they more or less intimated she was angry at being asked about Pres Clinton's thoughts - when in reality it was the translater who made the mistake...
The question was what the President thought, and the translater got it wrong... It was Obama not Bill the question was about. And Hillary was asked what President Clinton thought....etc..when it was President Obama the student asked about - maybe omiting the name - made the mistake an easy one.
Again it was the translator at fault. I bet she feels badly about it now. Both of them....
Gossip is the best she can do. Hillary looked exhausted and just plain tired. Everyone has their day when nothing seems to go right. I don't like anyone criticizing her, especially after all she's done for America.
Notice, BHO and Biden get laughable passes, or misspoke BS?
