It's going to be VERY interesting to see what he does on Sept. 27
WASHINGTON -- President Barack Obama on Friday cast U.S. military efforts in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan as part of his drive to forge a new relationship between America and the Muslim world.
Relations with the world's 1.5 billion Muslims soured after the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq in 2003.
In a video message to Muslims getting ready for the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, Obama said U.S. efforts to end the war in Iraq and to isolate extremists in Afghanistan and Pakistan are in keeping with America's responsibility to build a more peaceful and secure world.
He said that also includes U.S. support for a two-state solution recognizing the rights of Israelis and Palestinians to live in peace and security.
"All of these efforts are part of America's commitment to engage Muslims and Muslim-majority nations on the basis of mutual interest and mutual respect," Obama said in the message posted on the White House Web site. "And at this time of renewal, I want to reiterate my commitment to a new beginning between America and Muslims around the world."
Ramadan, a monthlong period of prayer, reflection and sunrise-to-sunset fasts, begins Saturday in most of the Islamic world.
Yet he couldn't bring himself to bother with the National day of Prayer. He didn't kick off Lent, either.
Obama never ceases to amaze - and not in a good way.
BTW - I believe relations were a tad sour before this. I felt pretty sour after 09-11-2001.

I'm not sure what to think. Could this be an act of a POTUS to educate Americans? With other POTUS I probably would have said yes. Sadly with O I have to question his motives which are not integration and acceptance of Islam in the US but rather the superiority of Islam above all other religions.
If he celebrates one religious holiday then he needs to celebrate all the mainstream ones.
It is also rich when he talks about fasting being important for a Muslim but also for his religion of Christianity. I don't see that family ever fasting for any reason. Sacrifice for others is not part of their torn moral fabric.

Well, that's Obama's Muslim religion. O-non-nbc wants to reiterate his commitment to a new beginning between America and the religion that abuses women and children.
