"Obamacare's popularity is plummeting to earth like the Hindenburg at Lakehurst. Last Friday, the administration released another terrifying budget estimate in which they somehow “misunderestimated” the deficit by $2 trillion. Yes, that’s trillion with a T. Very confidence-inspiring, no?

So, with bad news all around, it’s time for the administration to mount a distraction campaign on multiple fronts. On the first front, Attorney General Eric Holder threatens prosecution of the Bush-era CIA. On the second front – swine flu is going to kill us all. We will focus on that second front.

snip

Maybe it’s the cynic in us, but we can’t help but be a little skeptical of this swine flu brouhaha. Sure, it exists, but is it really the crisis situation the Obama administration and the media have made it out to be? Didn’t we already go through this panic once, only to find that swine flu killed far fewer people than plain old vanilla regular flu? This is the disease that the WHO has declared a “pandemic” despite fewer than 1500 deaths from the disease in just under 5 months. While those deaths are of course tragic, this again is far fewer than have died from ordinary flu strains.

But now, says the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology, 90,000 of us are going to die from H1N1 flu. Hospitals and emergency care centers will be overwhelmed. You can’t go and get the vaccine fast enough. Crisis! Again, maybe we’re being cynical, but it seems just a little convenient that we have this “crisis” at a time when one party is arguing that our health care system is broken and inadequate and needs the government to step in to set things right.

And then there’s the vaccine itself. How in the world could this vaccine have been tested for potential long-term effects? We just found out about swine flu 4 and a half months ago. We’re supposed to trust the government that this vaccine is effective and has no negative side effects? Neither of us have ever gotten a flu shot in our lives. In the realm of selective vaccination, this is one that our son won’t be getting. But you can bet that if the government ran health care, such vaccinations would no longer be optional. The government already pressures parents to vaccinate their children in ways many are not comfortable with – just try getting your child into a public school without shots. Some states even mandate vaccinations for private- and home-schooled children.

Now who exactly benefits from scare tactics about H1N1, and who would benefit from mandatory vaccinations? Why, the pharmaceutical manufacturers. The same companies that comprise the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhrMA), who recently spent $150 million on advertisements to push Obama's healthcare plans. And now the President’s Council issues a report telling all Americans to run out and get the vaccine. Again, call us cynical, but this seems an awful lot like reciprocity.

Perhaps this would seem less fishy if the report came from somewhere else, but the report was issued by PCAST, the members of which were hand-picked by Obama himself. Their own website says the council exists to advise the President and his staff, and “makes policy recommendations in the many areas where understanding of science, technology, and innovation is key.” This council is made up of Obama’s ideological fellow-travelers—climate-change alarmists and population-control advocates like John Holdren, pie-in-the-sky green-energy proponents, and one man, Ed Penhoet, who just happens to be founder of a company that makes the equipment necessary to test for H1N1, as well as the H1N1 vaccine itself. This is the kind of thing that, if the names were “Dick Cheney,” “Haliburton,” or “Blackwater,” would send the left into one of its trademark paroxysms. But now, we see only complete acceptance and not a questioning peep from the left.

Remember, when you read reports about the impending deluge of H1N1 cases, that this administration has everything to gain from infecting you with the fear of swine flu. The reasons are the same as ever – power, control, money. The cure, as always, is regular doses of rational thinking, and maintaining a healthy skepticism of reports from the mouth of the government."

Couldn't have said it better myself. A friend of ours is a doctor and he said he cannot believe the hype swine flu has gotten and he said that from the very beginning. Obama and his administration are so obvious in their attempts to scare the American people - of course, I expect nothing less from someone who came from the Chicago political system.

I don't think this will help him.  People are not as stupid as the media and this adminstration think they are.

He was touting on the networks today to warn people of the swine flu - get your shots, wash your hands, etc.  Total diversion!  He will not dictate what shot I want my body to have.  This really ticks me off.

(Did he even look at the Dow Jones falling by 200 points, and the S&P 500 falling from the sky. )
