Did Obama Bring the Country Together More Effectively Than Hillary Could Have?

September 03, 2009 by Raj Rajagopalan

Back in the summer of 2008, when Obama was running against Hillary Clinton, he pointed at Hillary and said:

"I think it is fair to say that I believe I can bring the country together more effectively than she can"

At the time when he said this, majority of Democrats seemed to have fallen for his words. Not having any record to go by, they just took him for his word, and believed what he promised them.

Hillary repeatedly warned the Democrats not to believe his lofty rhetoric's. She, time and again, cautioned the Democrats not to fall for his false promise of "Change"

Some of her famous words included during the summer of 2008 included:

"If you give a speech saying you're going to vote against the Patriot Act, that's not change...If you say you've passed a Patient's Bill of Rights but you forget to mention that it never got signed into law, that's not change."

"if you rail against [lobbyists and special interest groups] but you voted for Dick Cheney's energy bill, that's not change"

"If you gave a speech -- and a very good speech -- against the war in Iraqin 2002 and then by 2004 you're saying you're not sure how you would have voted, and by 2005 six and seven you've voted for $300 billion for the war you said you're against, that's not change."

Who would ever forget her famous words to Obama "You campaign in poetry, you govern in prose"

The Democrats ignored all her repeated warnings. They fell for the empty substance and false promise of "Change". They fell for his handsome looks, and appeal, and decided that the substance of Hillary is not the need of the hour.

The Democrats decided that Obama can better unite the country than Hillary. They kicked Hillary out of the race, in a nail-biting finish.

Six months have gone by since Obama assumed the job of Presidency. He has an established record now, unlike in fall of 2008, when he ran on "no record and no history". An analysis of the past 6 months of his record just shows how correct Hillary was when she warned her fellow Democrats in 2008.

He has done nothing in the past 6 months that would make us call him an "Agent of Change". He has done nothing in the past 6 months to prove that he can bring the country together more effectively than what Hillary could have, unlike what he promised the Democrats. We just see the total of it.

He has effectively divided the country in the past 6 months, than Hillary could ever have, or John McCaincould ever have.

Though he campaigned as a moderate and a centrist in 2008, he did 180 degree turn when he assumed office, and is working on implementing every "radical left agenda" possible, just in 6 months, to enable him maintain his support among the radical left base that worked so hard for him.

His approval numbers have plummeted from high 60's to the mid 40's in just 6 months. He has successfully divided the country by referring to our own senior citizens, hard working woman, and any middle class American who disagrees with him as "Unruly Mobsters", "Nazis". He has divided the country by having his administration bring race into any political debate, and calling people who disagree with his policies as "playing the race card". His administration effectively branded anyone who disagrees with "healthcare public option" as "evil racists". He went to the extent of calling a Cop who worked tirelessly for our safety as "Stupid", in front of millions of people, on national television. He has effectively divided the people of America by apologizing for our great country, to evil regimes and dictators, and bowing to monarchs.

One may be a Conservative or a Liberal. One may be a Democrat or a Republican. One thing all these people could agree with now is the fact that, either of "Moderate Democrat" Hillary Clintonor "Moderate Republican" John McCainwould have brought the country together more effectively than "Extreme Left" Obama.

One thing the Democrats would start realizing soon is the fact that Hillary was so right in 2008 in her words about Obama. If only the Democrats had listened to her in 2008, our country would have been in a better place, with more unity now, and the Democratic Party would have had a better chance in 2012.

His inexperience is showing every single day.  From day one, Hillary will pick up the pieces from Bush's to do basket, and put them under "It's the economy stupid" priority folder.
