I'm reminded of the verse from that wonderful Queen song:
Buddy youre a boy make a big noise Playin in the street gonna be a big man some day You got mud on yo face You big disgrace Kickin your can all over the place
We will we will rock you We will we will rock you
Buddy youre a young man hard man Shoutin in the street gonna take on the world some day You got blood on yo face You big disgrace Wavin your banner all over the place
We will we will rock you We will we will rock you
Buddy youre an old man poor man Pleadin with your eyes gonna make you some peace some day
You got mud on your face You big disgrace Somebody better put you back in your place
Thanks for the song, TBW! I just saw the Chicago news - we get it here for some reason - and they were like, seriously: 'Obama and Daley were just too 'in your face' and ****y about it. Than there was Oprah and Michelle, etc., etc.' And that's coming from Thug Town itself!

BTW, the World Cup will be in Rio in 2014. They have also recently hosted the Pan Am Games. Brazil is a big sports country. Since most of the time people don't really pay too much attention to what the IOC does perhaps Rio didn't seem like the frontrunner for many, but if you look at the big picture and how things have been lining up for Rio in recent years, Rio must have just seemed like the obvious choice for many IOC members. I also understand Rio's argument for why they should be given the Olympics (first country in South America to get them and they are into sports in a big way). I still am not clear behind the logic for why Chicago should host the summer games (just wanting to host is not a good enough reason). The U.S. has already had the Olympics 8 times. Other parts of the world should be given the chance to host.
The city began courting major sporting events to show its preparedness for the Olympics, including the World Boxing Championships, which were held in the city in October 2007. The city had also hosted the Gay Games in the summer of 2006.
Wow, I can't believe boxing and gay games didn't seal the deal.
