Senate Democrats get 60 votes to move healthcare bill along
It's the first of three major hurdles in the Senate en route to an anticipated vote by Christmas.

By Janet Hook and Noam N. Levey December 21, 2009Reporting from Washington - The Senate took a giant step toward passing its sweeping healthcare bill early today, uniting fractious Democrats after months of debate over President Obama's promise to reduce the ranks of the uninsured. Breaking the Republican filibuster required the votes of all 60 members of the Democratic caucus. The cloture motion, which passed 60 to 40, capped months of work by Obama and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), who personally negotiated compromises on big issues such as abortion and taxes, as well as parochial deals for key states and industries.
It doesn't mean the bill is completely passed, is it? Now They have to face other votes, including a bill without public option! I don't want this bill!:(
Angelica, At this time, it is simply a given that something passes. And, I expect the President will sign it promptly and call it Christmas gift to the nation.

This bill won't cover me. I make to much money for medicad and I make to little to qualify for any of the insurrance programs. Its not going to be a Christmas gift for me or anyone else I know who is uninsured.
