Republicans Unlikely to Repeal Health Care Reform

More proof the GOP took an all-or-nothing gamble on health care reform: The Hill reports that Sen. Mike Crapo (R-ID) said Republicans are unlikely to be able to repeal the legislation anytime in the near future.

Said Crapo: "Technically it could be peeled back if the circumstances were right. But we would have to have a president who would sign such a bill, and we would have to have 60 votes in the Senate -- not just 50. So it would be a very tall order, and frankly, the likelihood's that that's not going to develop in the near future."

Interestingly, Sen. John Barrasso (R-WY) in an ABC News interview repeatedly declined to say whether the GOP should run on a "repeal" message in 2010.

If they want to get re-elected/elected, they had better run a repeal campaign.

I will not vote for one democrat. If the republicans aren't going to even try to save this country, I won't vote at all.

I am about at the point of giving up. The socialists won. We are now just one more socialist crap country, and it won't surprise me to see Islam taking over in the near furure, globally.

They played it hard to knock it off the table.. They forgot that being minority they can only influence and do small things..

Having said that, Sen.Jim DeMint has a good strategy in play in shutting out conference on the two bills - House and Senate. If that works, the House has to vote on the Senate bill. That seems to be how it is stacking right now.  Here is a link to that thread.

I may be alone but I believe they don't give a damn what "the people" think or want. They built themselves a kingdom and we don' matter.

I had hope that they could be voted out and possibly save this country in 2012, but I no longer think that. I think they already have the deck stacked and are not worried about how we peons vote. Those acorn cookies were like a huge **** you to the people. I got that message.

The Tea Party movement is huge. If these pansies can't repeal, we'll get someone in that can! Everyone, we have to organize and stay in touch with Tea Party leaders in each state. They are up to over 23,000 chapters now.

I got an invitation to attend a conference in Texas where Sarah Palin will be speaking. resist.net has the info if anyone wants to view it.

Kb, Things are still quite a bit uncertain given Sen.Jim DeMint's move.  From what I see so far, if the Senate version is not accepted as is by the House, it will be back to the Senate with flavors of the House version and that is unlikey to pass in the Senate.  The two chambers are vastly different in their preferences.
