I have been surfing the local newspapers.  The printed version of Boston Herald has this article titled "Stark Choice"

STARK CHOICE: The Brown-Coakley duel puts President Obama and democrats to epic test.

The U.S. Senate election enters its final “do or die” days as President Obama heads to the Hub today to try to save his domestic agenda with a last-ditch pitch for Democrat Martha Coakley, while insurgent Republican Scott Brown criss-crosses the state on a wave of anti-Washington momentum.

“Initially, I thought it was me against the machine, but now it’s us against the machine,” Brown told a cheering crowd at a Plymouth campaign rally yesterday. Brown has vowed to help defeat the president’s flagship health-care legislation.

The neck-and-neck race for what was once thought to be the safest Democratic seat in the country - held by the late Sen. Edward M. Kennedy for 47 years - has stunned the party.

“This race is do or die in our state,” U.S. Sen. John Kerry told voters in an e-mail. “We have to stand with Martha as she tries to win this seat.”

The candidates held no punches in a day of fast-paced campaigning before high-spirited crowds.

Coakley, under fire for a light schedule and sinking poll numbers in recent weeks, launched a “Fighting for You” tour that made nine stops in eastern Massachusetts. She was joined by Victoria Reggie Kennedy, whose late husband’s seat is to be filled in the Tuesday special election.

“It’s astounding that Scott Brown says he sides with the little guy,” Coakley told a crowd of 300 union workers inside the packed Dorchester IBEW hall. “We don’t need to send someone to Washington who sides with the people who got us into this (economic) mess.”

The attorney general, not known as a passionate speaker, grew increasingly fiery throughout the day.

In Melrose, she brought a crowd of more than 200 to its feet when she mocked her rival.

“Just because you can drive around the commonwealth in a truck doesn’t mean you’re going in the right direction,” Coakley said.

In Lynn, she dared Brown to make an issue out of Obama’s visit.

“I think that the president thinks we’re going to win, and that’s why he’s coming here,” Coakley said.

This promises to be a very interesting election night, and the results will be very telling.

I got that "do or die" email from Kerry, and similar emails from a couple of other Dem. leaders. While these pleas annoy me, responding to them can be therapeutic. I always reply with some snide commentary about how the party threw women under the bus, and rigged the primary. I know no one reads the replies, but it makes me feel a little better to respond.

The national Republican Party, extreme right wing groups and coporate special interest are pouring money into Mass. hoping to derail ciriticalprograms that protect seniors, children, and working families. Martha will be 60th vote to ensure we full Ted Kennedy's dream of health
care reform, Scott Brown will stnad in the way of that dream. You vote matter and you don't want to be left out of this election.

Be sure to vote the day after Martin Luther King Day!

The Dems are really banking on Ted to reach out from the grave and save their A$$es on this one. Note this comment:

Yeah, that's what's important to America - fulfilling Ted's dream. How out of touch and ridiculous the Dems are.

That is true. Strange that many in Mass. are living below the poverty level, take note
they are not on the agenda. The dems are not representing this voting block.

LOL, I got the same telephone calling script this morning!  LOL.  I have not fully made up my mind, but I am leaning towards Scott Brown right now after reading his policy positions.  I do not want him to vote strictly by party-line... that's what I dont know much about.. Difficult to assess him based on his record.

Wondering whether to call into the 2pm telecon with Terry McAuliffe...

Sanders, you know I am for women being placed in office, and you know how I feel about the dems, it was real hard for me to make these calls, but I did change the wording and
said "Martha Coakley needs your help"..........I didn't try to twist anyone, and out of the 100
calls, I had no one who really who bashed Brown........... I certainly understood one woman
who was disabled and disappointed in the dems.


Here's what I know, of those who have not decided they are watching t.v., reading the
newspapers, and seem to be divided. That number is about 9 out 100 calls.
18 voters, said they would vote for Martha (most females), 4 wouldn't and 22 hung up, and the other calls were place to answering machines.
