WEST POINT – US Senator Kristen Gillibrand would like to include in the health bill being debated in Washington providing Medicare for those 55 to 65.

Gillibrand said providing that coverage for the baby boomer generation would be a great benefit to those people.

“For many of them, they are denied coverage for pre-existing conditions currently, and for many of them, they would love to change jobs or start new businesses, or two chapter two of their careers, but often don’t because they are afraid they will lose their health insurance,” she said. “It’s also the generation where that’s the onset of a lot of chronic disease, so if we can get that generation in particular, the 55 to 65s, into preventive care, into good, affordable healthcare coverage, something like Medicare, I think that’s going to lower costs for everyone.”

Gillibrand said the latest version of a healthcare bill will be proposed shortly.
