What Would Hillary Clinton Have Done? - America Thrown To The Wolves (Hillary is 44)

If you haven't checked out Hillary is 44, you're missing a something.  This article is spot on.  Hillary would have MANAGED this crisis - not try to bore it to death with words... just words.

What Would Hillary Clinton Have Done? - America Thrown To The Wolves

President Hillary Clinton would never have given that mess of a speech last night. As Hwc wrote:
“Can you imagine Hillary Clinton’s Oval Office speech on the oil disaster? I can. She’d rattle off a 12 point action plan, right down to what kind of underwear Thad Allen would wear. She may not plug the leak, but you’d damn sure turn off the TV thinking she had a plan.”
There would have been no “Czar” appointed. Especially not an unknown “Czar” with an already full day time job. Hillary Clinton would have been in charge. An action packed Mama Grizzly. Big Media would mock her as “Czarina” of the Gulf Gusher. Barack Obama would have concocted fairy tales of how he would have voted against the oil gusher. But Hillary Clinton would have been in charge and in the lead.
Instead of an about to retire Thad Allen, Hillary would have searched out for someone who cares about the Gulf Coast culture and people with all his/her heart and soul – to be an informal and permanent “eyes and ears”. A well connected lover of the Gulf with a dash of Jean LaFitte and a recognizable loud mouth. Would that have been loudmouth Democratic operative James Carville and his loudmouth Republican wife Mary Matalin? You betcha!. We would not be surprised if Sarah Palin would find herself invited repeatedly to tour the Gulf with the original Mama Grizzly.
We easily picture President Hillary Clinton touring the Gulf, for days, in a boat – gutting fish and those who stood in the way of immediate action. James Lee Witt would have received a phone call the very hour the Deepwater Horizon went bad. The armada against invading oil would have been organized from the start and the first speech a few days after the crisis began would have been comprehensive and effective.
Of course we are engaged in speculation. No one knows for sure what specifically Hillary Clinton would have done. But we do know her history and her level of engagement. We also know what it is that Obama has done. History teaches.

I don't expect the President of the United States to know how to fix an oil spill, but I do expect the President of the United States to know how to manage a crisis. Hillary knows. Obama hasn't got a clue.

Exactly!  And, I would hope that the potus would be feel and be able to express genuine empathy and concern.  Sadly - BO can't do so.  Maybe that super cool demeanor which the Obamakids found so inspiring in 2008 was merely BO's lack of concern.

Yep!  She would have been more in command, and far more empathetic.

Current situation has exposed POTUS's weaknesses, all in one. Inability to make rapid decisions, inability to take charge, inability to convey big picture in simple common-person digestible words and inability to bring germane selective exemplar facts without wading in weeds.. and inability to empathize, inability to express empathy..

As I have said many times before, his words do not come from his heart... and his words do not touch his heart.  The disconnect shows in critical situations.

He needed 8 flags, a podium and teleprompter to manage his primary season crisis. Even then, he needed to throw his grandma under the bus to come on top.  Abnd at the end of the speech, he had still not distanced himself from his vagrant priest. It took the DNC-RBC meeting day's pressure and the need for a public win on that day ahead of the RBC 'ruling' and the need to give them yet another 'reason' to put him ahead of Hillary that make him 'undo' his relationship with his 20-year relationship with his loud-mouth priest.  It was not empathy; it was use of situation as a strategy.

And, he is continuing to do exactly that... even with the Gushing Gulf Oil Disaster situation. It is now part of the strategy for cap and trade. Other things are already lining up. Kerry has made peace with Pickens and Lieberman. House of Reps has already passed the bill.  The bill is already on the "WH Calendar" for the lame duck session of Senate.

Here's what I'd like to know. What did he promise BP in exchange for $20B in escrow that the government manages?  A cap on exposure at that level? Some carbon credits on top?  At what level of disaster does MMS cancel/suspend a business's license?

Where is the call for all youth to plant a few trees this summer????

Excellent description of BO's shortcomings, Sanders. I would bet some kind of deal was cut with BP. Wish I knew what, as well.

BTW - good to see you. Sanders.
