Secretary of State Hillary Clinton today said there is a “self-fulfilling momentum” to sticking with the Middle East peace talks and said she is committed to trying to bridge the “significant” differences between Palestinians and Israel.
Clinton said Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu face “hard choices” but that both leaders “want to do this.”
“I am not troubled or deterred by armchair critics,” said Clinton, responding to a question about stalled peace talks at Fortune magazine’s Most Powerful Women conference in Washington.
Such an important, challenging pursuit requires a determined, insightful, courageous individual who will not be distracted or demoralized by the sniping and negativity of critics. Hillary is perfect for this job. There are some in this country in the Pub Party and the loony left wing of the Damocrats who would no doubt like to see her fail. As important as this peace effort is, the folks with CDS would rather see it fail than to see Hillary get credit for helping to bring about a positive outcome.
Hillary is certainly more than capable of dealing with these small minds.
