Clinton tells Stark crowd to follow-up after rally (Canton Rep. 10/30/10)

There were a few minor distractions during former President Bill Clinton’s 47-minute speech at a rally here Saturday afternoon in support of U.S. Rep. John Boccieri and Gov. Ted Strickland.

The wind blew part of Gov. Ted Strickland’s campaign sign onto the heads of Clinton and Strickland. Dogs barked in the distance. And Boccieri learned his wife Stacey, who was at the rally, went into labor before Clinton’s speech.

Boccieri immediately left the stage just outside of Tozzi’s on 12th restaurant and rushed to Mercy Medical Center. His wife, with the help of her parents, had already left for the hospital.

“The baby’s now being born,” Clinton said, sparking applause. “You’d be amazed how many times I take a picture with a very pregnant woman and she immediately gives birth.”

Boccieri and his wife, Stacey, welcomed their fifth child, Emma Nancy Boccieri, born at 6:10 p.m. Saturday at Mercy Medical Center. Emma weighs in at 8 lbs., 9 ounces and is 18 inches long.

Clinton told the crowd he did not envision that he would be in Canton doing his 120th campaign event of this fall. But he said he has gotten more involved to inform voters of what has actually happened because “this has been about the most fact-free election I ever was in.”

He said the financial crisis occurred months before President Obama took office.

“To hear the other side tell it, every Democrat at the state and national level is responsible for every thing that happened bad the second the president took his hand off the Bible taking the oath of office four months later,” Clinton said. “I’d like to see them get behind a locomotive going straight down a hill at 200 miles an hour and stop it in five seconds.”

He said attendees at the rally have three days to tell people, especially young voters, that what they voted for two years ago now is at risk.

“There is not a better, more effective governor of the entire United States of America than Ted Strickland, and you have to re-elect him,” said Clinton. “You’ve got the sixth fastest growing economy in America. You’re one of only eight states lowering the unemployment rate. You have the fifth best education system in America, up from 27th. And they’re telling you you should change the man who’s leading this?”

Clinton said the Tea Party should endorse Boccieri, if they truly are for lower taxes.

“What is the position of the Republican leadership?” Clinton said. “We should cancel the stimulus. Kill the hundreds of thousands of jobs. Give up our race to leadership in the world in the great energy economy and undermine our ability to bring manufacturing back to Ohio. If you don’t like that you better vote for John Boccieri for Congress.”

He said, “All we’re asking for is two more years to get us out of the hole, and get us into the 21st century. You gave (Republicans) eight years to fill the hole. Give us four to prove that we can take you where America needs to go. ... so please, leave here and don’t let one person you know get to the polls without at least telling them what you now know.”

And yes, there was at least one of our own at this rally. Aaron Darr is one of my FB friends and he's active in the Hillary 2012 movement:

Later, Aaron Darr, 19, of Massillon stood outside Tozzi’s wearing a Hillary Rodham Clinton T-shirt hoping Bill Clinton would autograph his wife’s book, “Living History.” He said he wants Hillary Clinton to mount a primary challenge against President Obama in 2012.

“He’s really a good speaker,” he said about Clinton. “If we could give any one a third term, it should be him.”

Bless the "Big Dawg".  But the party that threw him and Hillary under the bus...is about to be thrown under the train.

How is that working out for you, Dean, Pelosi and Brazille?

They say revenge is best served cold, but this revenge is coming to the dems red-hot.

That is nice read. He is a good man, and is working hard for his party.

And, I get what he is saying -- BUT the POTUS in the WH has failed to convince the nation. So between the TP and professorial WH, the Dem's are likely to get their beating big time. We Hillary supporters are mad as hell -- this mess was avoidable... and Hillary DID warn the DNP, repeatedly.

Why was it so hard to see?

May 31, 2008, they sealed their fate for 2010. That's what is going to speak up on Tuesday. Karma. A LOT of the Independents who are voting are Hillary supporters. They should have known that we would remember.
