Tax "deal" discussion on "Make The Press"

I just read the Senate voted to pass this tax deal and Obama is loving it. I can't stand it. They've had this tax deal for 10 years. Where are the jobs? Where is the "trickle down"? I am so pissed off I don't know what to do. There was also a story on all the drastic Medicaid cuts, including a man who will die because Medicaid will no longer pay for his liver transplant. My son has Medicaid, he has cancer. He is 28 years old. If Virginia cuts his Medicaid, I don't know what he will do, or what I will do. This is so surreal its mind blowing. People are dying in order for the rich to get richer. What is wrong with this picture?

jdona, I feel your pain. Our best bet now is to keep Health Care Reform alive and with some additional enhancements. The donut hole needs to close to the maximum extent, and the deductions for Rx coverage need to go down. Latter of course means more reform and some curbs on the pharma - which has been a bit of a slippery sucker in the whole deal.

Yes, the tax thing is horrendous. For short-term much needed unemployment insurance in dire economic circumstances, the Repubs to squeeze the situation to get themselves a cushy deal for the rich. If you poll do you like the deal, people respond only from their viewpoint -- and that is only because people are hurting and there is nowhere to turn. Our own city's food pantry is dry and we are fundraising/can-raising this week. It is really bad... and the winter has only just begun. Heating cost is significantly higher this year than last year. The rich have really done this country in over the past 8 years thanks to Bush-2 who spent horrendously on one end, and didnt get income on the other, driving the country to (near-)bankrupty. The gulf between the rich and the poor has been widening. Opportunities rarer. Industries with higher margins have raised much bigger barriers to entry. Thankfully for the 401k's we hold, the market has recovered, but it is heavily invested outside the country. Savings of this country are moving to outside the country and that is an abomination.

The sad truth now is there is a serious mismatch between available jobs and skillset in the U.S. Not only have the jobs been moving out the country, those that do wish to be filled just are not finding the skilled personnel.

On top of that, Inheritance taxbreak -- that is the worst mistake. In fact, it is what I totally did not expect from a Dem administration, at all. Here is a good article on The estate tax impact by John King.

Yes, been watching C-SPAN today. I saw it until it was 83-14 or so and have noted good many of the NO votes -- once it goes into Thomas.gov, will take an extract of voting record.

I am pleased that Sen.Gillibrand voted NO. So did Kay Hagan (D-NC). I will be campaigning for both of them in the future.

The House of Reps will need to pass the bill next and there is a big push back there especially against estate tax and igh income taxbreak in the House. (In other words, looks like the income taxbreak for the rich for the next two years is a done deal - I really have not heard enough pushback on that, except from say Rep.Weiner - you heard him in the video in the top post). We shall see how much the House Reps really fight... vs. give lip service.

All of this so called "temporary" tax cut... is of course "permanent" addition to the deficit. Where is the wild cry about deficit?? Yeah, it is TEA party's cry to gain leverage against the social programs for the poor.... so that the rich can cream. DISGUSTING!!!
