Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on her current trip to the Middle East has begun stating that women have helped and can further assist in the peace process in the Middle East. In fact, women can be an influential force in convincing leaders to sign on to the comprehensive Arab-Israeli peace deal. Eventually, with the fast growing youth population in the Middle East, approximately anywhere from 25-34% of Middle Eastern countries' populations are between the ages of 15 and 29, according to the Brookings Institute. Not only youth, but young women have stock in the outcome of the peace process in the Middle East. They can effectively play a major role in the outcome. Clinton pointed to the conflict in Northern Ireland where women from both sides called for peace. She claimed that if women could see each other suffering in the same way, there would be less of a divide between them. A common ground could bring them closer together. This encourages citizen to citizen diplomacy in the Middle East, and also, Arab to Israeli relations.
This could "press government and leaders to make the necessary decisions that will lead to sustainable peace," stated Clinton.
